Chapter 1168 Temptation of the Unknown, Dragged Into A Mess
Chapter 1168 Temptation of the Unknown, Dragged Into A Mess
Izroth only found out about the shadahi by chance. After all, if he never chose the combat master class and met Gear, he never would have run into the shadahi. Or, at the very least, he would not have run into them as early as he did.
That being said, even coming into contact with the shadahi that early was no simple task. In order to reach that place, Izroth had rely on the Seer Tererestiaa, who guarded the seal on the Shadahi Realm and an S-ranked magic item called the Boundary Sealing Sphere.
Needless to say, the chances of another player making contact with the shadahi around that time with such harsh conditions in place was highly unlikely. Still, based on Haishe's words, that's what seemed to be exactly what happened.
"You're right in that I have no intention of asking you to answer for another's greed. That being said, taking your words at face value without any proof would be foolish of me. Tell me, what's the name of the client who made the request?" Izroth asked in a straightforward manner.
"Palace Master Izroth, even if it's you making the request, asking me to give away a client's private information is too much. In my line of work, if I did such a thing, it would be no different than announcing Fatal Touch's incompetence to the world. I just secured the leader position not long ago and I still have yet to fully solidify my standing. If I tell you any more than this, it will be difficult for me going forward." Haishe responded with a firm gaze.
Izroth carefully observed Haishe. A few moments later, the atmosphere became less intense as the pressure Izroth gave off faded.
Haishe breathed a sigh of relief. He was afraid that Izroth would continue to push the matter and even potentially resort to a more forceful approach to get answers. If it came to that, he could only do his best to fight back and see things through until the end.
'It seems that's as much as he's willing to give up. To be honest, it's more than I expected. To essentially rent out a division of Fatal Touch for their own purpose, the client who made the request must have wealth to spare. That alone narrows down the list of potentially candidates quite a bit. Still, it's not a short list by any means. Even though he said client, it's possible that the client is a guild or organization, not a person. Regardless, I will have Azalea look into Fatal Touch on her end to see if Haishe's words line up. He seems to be telling the truth that Fatal Touch isn't directly tied with the shadahi. But, I find it hard to believe Silent Steps was the only member of Fatal Touch who chased after the shadahi's power.'
The power that could be granted by the shadahi was too tempting for most players to pass up. After all, the majority of players did not care about the well being of the Mortal Realm. As long as it could increase their strength, most players would not hesitate to accept what the shadahi had to offer. This was another reason why Izroth wanted to expand the Mystical Realm Palace and raise its influence.
Izroth needed to ensure that even the average player was not tempted by the power that the shadahi had to offer. In truth, making sure that players were not drawn by the shadahi's offer was simple. Izroth just had to offer something better than what the shadahi was giving. But, in order to do this, he needed authority, manpower, resources and a trustworthy reputation. And, the Mystical Realm Palace was the at the core of his plans to make those needs a reality.
"We can end things here—for now. Though to make sure there are no misunderstandings, I advise you and Fatal Touch not to get too close to the shadahi. That aside, I hope you haven't forgotten about my compensation from earlier." Izroth stated calmly.
Izroth was not asking for compensation in regards to the trial dungeon. After all, that was a part of a reward he already promised. The compensation he was referring to was the information he gave to Haishe about the hidden pill rank, or, as Izroth most recently discovered its official name, the Four Pill Core Ranks.
After the atmosphere became more lax and Izroth said those words, Haishe immediately clapped his hands together and replied, "I thank Palace Master Izroth for his reminder. And, naturally, I am not the type to go back on my word. I will prepare your compensation as soon as things have fully settled down."
Haishe's gaze traveled to the fight taking place in the near distance. Even though he hid it well, Haishe was surprised that Saber Fang, Zombie King and the members of Crimson Tigers were struggling so much against one person.
"That person definitely emerged from Palace Master Izroth's shadow. Is he always going around with such a strong bodyguard? That explains why he reacted so calmly despite our being outnumbered. But, were those two always this weak?" Haishe thought to himself as he furrowed his brows.
At the moment, Azalea's Phantom of Harmony was moving throughout the battlefield like a ghostly apparition.
"This annoying mosquito buzzing around—stay still!" Saber Fang roared, covered in wounds, as he slammed both of his gauntlets into the ground.
Boom!
When Saber Fang's gauntlets made contact with the ground, it sent out a powerful shockwave that upended the earth into a ring of sharp spikes covered in a vicious fighting spirit and caused a large dust cloud to form.
Swoosh! Phhhtk!
Out of nowhere, both of Saber Fang's arms and legs were struck. However, just as he prepared to launch a counterattack, his entire body froze up. He glanced down at his left arm and noticed strange dark violet veins coursing through him.
"Poison..!" Saber Fang thought to himself as he was immobilized.
Phhhtk!
The next moment, Saber Fang's eyes widened in shock as a deep cut appeared across his throat. Then, in the blink of an eye, Saber Fang's body began to turn into numerous particles.
"Damn it...! What kind of class is this?! How can it overwhelm two high level rare classes?!" Zombie King cursed with a troubled face as he witnessed Saber Fang's demise.
Saber Fang and Zombie King had classes synergized well with one another. The two had done what they always did when facing off against players. They utilized a combination of Zombie King's undead summons to limit the enemy's movement, Steps of the Undead to slow their target down and then Relentless Pursuit to move in for an easy kill.
This combination had never failed them even against stronger opponents. At least, that's how it was up until a few seconds ago.
"My summons can't even catch up to her movement speed and she's too fast to hit with anything that's not an AOE or lock-on skill! No, it's impossible to target her even with a lock-on skill..!" Zombie King thought to himself.
The Phantom of Harmony had been picking off the members of Crimson Tigers one by one. After thinning out their numbers, it switched focus to Saber Fang and took him out.
As a magic caster, Zombie King expected that he would be prioritized as the target of attacks. Therefore, he did not cast any of his more powerful spells that required a long channel time. However, since the start of this fight, nothing had gone as planned.
"It's that old bastard's fault for getting us into this mess!" Zombie King uttered to himself as he glared at Pill Master.
Pill Master hid behind some of the few remaining Crimson Tigers players with an expression of outrage written all over his face that had turned red in a fit of rage.
"Useless..! There were so many of you and yet you're still losing! High level players my foot! Let me tell you—I won't craft a single pill for Crimson Tigers if you can't teach those rude brats a lesson!" Pill Master scowled angrily as he pointed toward Izroth and Haishe's direction.
Swoosh!
Suddenly, a thin line appeared across Pill Master's finger as a ghostly apparition breezed past him. Not long after, the finger Pill Master used to point at Izroth had been cleanly severed.
Pill Master trembled as he instinctively grabbed the wrist of his hand that had been cut off. His expression became ghastly as his face turned pale. Needless to say, he was not used to combat in RML. As a result, having his finger severed without warning nearly caused him faint from shock.
