Chapter 1376: Under the Great Calamity, All Life Perishes (Part 1)
Vast waves of Calamity Qi filled the heavens and earth, completely enveloping the territory of the Panyu Immortal Sect. In an instant, the sect was shrouded in endless darkness and destruction.
“Ahhh!! No!”
“It hurts! It’s terrifying!”
“Run! What are these things? Monsters! They’re monsters!”
The air was filled with the continuous screams of the disciples of the Panyu Immortal Sect as the breached Calamity Qi and the strange, eerie figures began their merciless slaughter. The once-brilliant and thriving sect was reduced to ruin in just a few short breaths of time.
For the disciples who had not yet reached the Immortal realm, the power of the Calamity Qi was akin to the deadliest poison in the world! Anyone who came into contact with it found the foul Qi seeping into their bodies, corrupting their very essence.
The destructive power of the calamity spread through their limbs and bones, eroding their bodies from the inside out. Countless disciples let out horrified screams as they staggered in a futile attempt to flee. But within a few steps, they began to undergo horrific transformations.
Their bodies began to emit Calamity Qi, along with a foul, putrid liquid. Like candles being lit, they quickly melted into puddles of black blood, their power absorbed by the Calamity Qi, which in turn fueled even greater storms of destruction within the sect.
In an instant, the Panyu Immortal Sect was transformed into a living hell. The disciples and elders who remained could only abandon everything in their desperate attempt to escape.
Wherever the Calamity Qi and the twisted figures went, they devoured all energy-bearing beings in their path. Some Immortals tried to resist by summoning their immortal treasures, only to be surrounded by the eerie figures—hundreds of them attacking as one, piercing their bodies with countless black, tree-like spikes until they resembled grotesque pincushions.
The most terrifying part of the calamity, however, was what happened after these beings were slain. Instead of vanishing into nothingness, their bodies were transformed into grotesque puppets, covered in the cursed branches of the eerie figures. Their twisted forms now turned on their former friends and comrades, attacking with mindless fury.
“No! Is this the end of my Panyu Immortal Sect?”
“Run, Sect Master! Escape while you can!”
Even the sect master, a powerful True Immortal, could not hide his despair as he witnessed the collapse of his sect. The disciples he had spent centuries cultivating fell in waves, dissolving into pools of black blood that stained the once-holy grounds of the sect. The air was thick with an aura of despair and evil.
Beside him, the few loyal elders who had survived the onslaught screamed in anguish. They unleashed their full immortal power, attempting one last desperate attack against the encroaching calamity.
“Sect Master, go! If the ancestor awakens, the Panyu Immortal Sect may yet survive!”
In a flash, the blackened shadows of the calamity surged forward, swarming toward them like a tidal wave of death. Without hesitation, the elders pushed the injured sect master back, sacrificing themselves as they charged into the sea of darkness.
“Agui! Ahhu!”
The sect master’s heart broke as he screamed out their names, his eyes red with grief. These two elders had been his closest companions, disciples he had personally nurtured to greatness. To him, they were closer than his own children.
But now, faced with the calamity, he could do nothing but watch them charge into their deaths. He was powerless to save them.
“Damn it all!!”
With tears streaming down his face, the sect master turned away from the scene, forcing himself to flee to the last refuge of the sect. Behind him, the Calamity Qi raged, consuming everything in its path—great halls, cultivation grounds, and the bodies of the countless disciples and elders.
The once-glorious Panyu Immortal Sect was reduced to nothing but ruin and darkness. Everywhere the Calamity Qi passed, it left behind only black mist and pools of blood, from which the eerie puppets, controlled by the cursed trees, rose and wailed in agony.
Gradually, most of the sect’s land was transformed into wasteland. Amidst the devastation, points of crimson light began to gather, emanating an ominous and destructive aura.
As strange phenomena manifested in the sky, depicting scenes of apocalyptic disasters, black spikes began to sprout from the crimson light, growing at a terrifying speed. In the blink of an eye, they transformed into more cursed trees, their roots spreading across the lands, soaking up the remaining immortal energy like parasites.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Great halls crumbled, mountains split open, and vast sections of the sect were leveled into barren, lifeless plains. Most horrifying of all, this scene was not confined to the Panyu Immortal Sect alone.
In the neighboring Buyun Immortal Sect, the exact same disaster unfolded.
Calamity Qi ravaged their lands just as brutally, killing countless disciples, destroying their sacred grounds, and allowing the cursed trees to take root. The Calamity Qi grew even stronger, spreading to every corner, faster and more ferocious with each passing moment.
But the calamity did not stop after destroying one sect. The cursed trees, now firmly rooted, acted as anchors for the calamity, continuing to expand its reach. As they absorbed more and more immortal energy, new crimson fruits began to grow on their branches, birthing more eerie figures, perpetuating the cycle of death and destruction.
From this moment, the great calamity had officially descended, spreading like wildfire across the entire Immortal Domain.
…
“How can this be? Dozens of immortal sects have been wiped out in such a short time?!”
“What did you say?! The Calamity Qi is only five hundred miles away from us now?”
“Damn it! What are those twisted shadows? How did they reach our sect?!”
